Champagne Bertrand-Lapie was founded in 1991 in La Chaussée-sur-Marne by Gérard Bertrand and Marie-Josèphe Lapie, both committed to viticulture and the Champagne vineyard. The house is now run by their daughter, Marie-Ange, who joined after an earlier career in healthcare, continuing the family's independent estate with an emphasis on terroir, traditional Champagne practices, and transmission of the family's know-how. The cuvées are made predominantly from Chardonnay grown on the Vitryat hillsides in the commune of Bassu, an area known for finesse and freshness. The estate is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value).
