About

Founded in 1868 in Ludes, Canard-Duchêne is one of Champagne's storied grande marque houses. Established by Victor Canard and Léonie Duchêne, the house gained its royal warrant as official supplier to Tsar Alexander III of Russia. Today Canard-Duchêne produces a broad range anchored by its Authentic Brut — a generously structured, Pinot Noir-led blend built for immediate pleasure — alongside the Cuvée Charles Vintage, a tribute to the house's founding winemaker.

We are proud to release the Cuvée Charles 2016 — a single-vintage Champagne that honours our founding winemaker. After six years on lees, the 2016 base has developed extraordinary complexity: toasted brioche, dried apricot, and the warm Pinot Noir spice of the Montagne de Reims.

Harvest 2024 began on 9 September. A warm and consistent growing season produced grapes of excellent ripeness and health. Our Pinot Meunier from the Marne Valley was particularly impressive — round and generous, with none of the greenness that cooler years can bring.
