About

Denis Salomon is a fifth-generation family estate in Vandières, in the Vallée de la Marne. The Salomon family has farmed in the village since 1875; Denis and his wife Odile founded the Champagne Denis Salomon brand in 1974, left the local cooperative after the 1984 harvest, and became certified 'Vigneron Indépendant de France' in 1996. Denis's son Nicolas took over in 2004 and reshaped both vineyard and cellar practice: the estate has moved toward reasoned viticulture (now HVE- and VDC-certified), malolactic fermentation has been blocked on every cuvée since the 2012 harvest for fresher, more tensile wines, oak-barrel vinification began with the 2013 Vitalie, and a traditional Champenois basket press replaced the automatic press in 2017. The domaine farms 4.8 hectares across 23 parcels in 6 Marne villages (oldest vines 55 years old) and produces around 40,000 bottles a year, built primarily around Pinot Meunier, the signature grape of the Vallée de la Marne.
