About
A récoltant-manipulant estate in the Grand Cru village of Oger, at the southern tip of the Côte des Blancs. The Désautels-Cuiret family farms exclusively Chardonnay on the chalky limestone soils for which Oger is prized, using organic methods in the vineyard including sexual confusion pheromones in place of insecticide. Their house style is defined by the tension between ripe Oger fruit and the racy mineral precision that only Grand Cru chalk delivers.
From the House
Our Réserve Blanc de Blancs is an ideal partner for Saint-Jacques scallops — pan-seared with a touch of butter and served with a cauliflower cream. The wine's harmonious dosage and delicate citrus profile complement the natural sweetness of the scallop without overwhelming it.
We use pheromone-based sexual confusion in our Oger vineyards instead of insecticide — pheromones are released among the vines to prevent insects from mating, removing the need for chemical intervention entirely. In 2023 this approach was particularly effective during a warm summer that would normally encourage pest pressure.
