About

Larmandier-Bernier is one of the most important grower producers in Champagne, based in Vertus at the southern end of the Côte des Blancs. Founded when Philippe Larmandier and Elisabeth Bernier married in 1971, the estate was transformed by their son Pierre, who began converting to organic viticulture in 1992 and achieved full biodynamic certification by 1999 — making Larmandier-Bernier one of the earliest adopters of biodynamics in the appellation. The house works exclusively with Chardonnay, ferments all wines in old oak foudres and Burgundian barrels, never exceeds 4g/L dosage across the entire range, and maintains a perpetual reserve begun in 2004. The single-vineyard cuvées — Terre de Vertus, Vieille Vigne du Levant, and Les Chemins d'Avize — rank among the most sought-after grower Champagnes in the world.
