Major historic Champagne house founded in 1871 by Eugène Mercier in Épernay (9 Avenue de Champagne), famous for its 18km of underground cellars beneath Épernay (one of the most-toured cellar networks in Champagne, 100,000+ visitors/year) and the 'giant cask' displayed at the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition. Founded to make champagne accessible to a wider public without sacrificing quality. Now part of the Moët Hennessy / LVMH group (registered as Champagne Mercier, RCS Reims). Flagship style is its Blanc de Noirs (100% black grapes). Also produces a 'Vendanges Mercier' vintage range.
