Petit & Bajan was founded in 2008 by Richard Petit and Véronique Bajan, two winemakers from opposite ends of Champagne who united their terroirs — Richard's Chardonnay from Avize, Cramant and Oger on the Côte des Blancs, and Véronique's Pinot Noir from Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims. All 3 hectares of vineyards are rated Grand Cru. Like their neighbour and mentor Anselme Selosse, the couple harvest last in the village, seeking maximum ripeness. Grapes are pressed in a traditional wooden press in small batches. Dosage never exceeds 3g/L across the entire range. The wines are among the most poised and exciting small-production Champagnes to emerge from Avize in the last two decades.
