Valentin Leflaive traces its roots to the Leflaive family's history in Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy — Domaine Leflaive was founded by Joseph Leflaive, later co-run by Jo-Régis and then by Olivier Leflaive (co-manager 1982-1994), who struck out on his own as a négociant-éleveur in 1984. In 2015, Olivier began a new chapter in Oger, at the heart of the Côte des Blancs, naming the project after his son Valentin (born 2007) to create 'champagnes de lieux' — single-terroir, single-village and single-lieu-dit Champagnes built on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The house obtained its Négociant-Manipulant registration in 2020 and is based in a traditional chalk-cave cuverie in Oger, run by Jean Soubeyrand (Président du directoire) with Elysé Brigandat as chef de caves.
